Hiram Walker & Sons Limited’s President’s Award

This award recognizes an employee who has demonstrated outstanding initiative in the pursuit of excellence which has delivered superior results. Such superior performance must have a long-term, positive impact in an area of key business importance to the company. Karen Mingay was honoured with this award based on her work in creating and implementing the business board games introduced at the first Annual Operating Plan meeting held in the Fall of 1998.

The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) is a network of professionals committed to improving organizational effectiveness through strategic communication. With more than 100 chapters, IABC serves 13,500 members in 60 countries and 10,000 organizations.

For more than 25 years, IABC’s Gold Quill Awards program has been the hallmark of excellence in business communication. From the many thousands of entries submitted throughout the years, only the most outstanding communicators have been honoured with this award.

In 2002, Karen Mingay’s submission of “Bringing Lego to Life – Involving Employees in Waste Reduction” was awarded a Gold Quill Award of Merit.
